Leroy’s Fish Shack Opens at Fishermen’s Village

Punta Gorda, FL (October 2026) – Nearly two years later than first planned, Leroy’s Fish Shack is open at Fishermen’s Village. It comes from the team behind Leroy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar, the downtown spot Punta Gorda has loved since 2015. Good news for fans: this is a second location. Leroy’s Southern Kitchen on W. Marion Avenue downtown is staying open.

Fish straight off the boat

The idea is simple: local seafood, as fresh as it gets. Commercial fishing partners deliver their catch to the dock behind the restaurant several times a week, and it’s filleted right there. The building takes over the former Village Fish Market space, and the décor nods to the site’s history as a working fish house and ice house. A patio looks out over Charlotte Harbor.

Getting here took a while. The owners signed the lease in April 2024 and planned to open that fall. Then came hurricane flooding, mold and asbestos cleanup, more than 50 leaks in the building and long insurance talks. The doors finally opened in September 2026.

A busy year for Fishermen’s Village

Leroy’s Fish Shack joins a wave of new restaurants at the Village, including Latitude 26° and Castaways in the former Harpoon Harry’s and Captain’s Table building. After the hurricanes, it’s good to see the harbor-front back and busy.
